Mindfulness & Wellbeing for Changemakers Summit

  • Albanian College, Durres Lagja 1, Rruga Anastas Durrsaku Durrës, Qarku i Durrësit Albania (map)

Convened by SusEd faculty experts from around the world in collaboration with the Balkan Association of Schools, the Mindfulness & Wellbeing for Changemakers Summit offers a distinctive opportunity for schools and organisations to come together in a spirit of reflection and connection, exploring wellbeing as a foundation for learning, compassionate, regenerative leadership and meaningful change. Through guided mindfulness, reflective dialogue, movement, nature, creative practice and collaborative inquiry, participants will consider how schools and organisations can strengthen attention, belonging, resilience and psychological safety, embedding wellbeing in everyday relationships, practices and culture, on a path to human flourishing.

The Summit will take place at Albanian College, Durrës on the Adriatic coast, where two restorative and purposeful days of mindfulness, dialogue, movement, connection with nature and creative practice will provide space to cultivate the clarity, resilience and active hope needed to shape a future worth inheriting.

Our Focus

The two-day Summit will explore how cross-sector systems can attend to the whole person, connecting Social, Emotional and Physical Wellbeing, Mindfulness and Self-Leadership, Resilience and Emotional Regulation, Regenerative Leadership, Belonging and Psychological Safety, and Compassionate Action. Through experiential learning, collaborative inquiry and deep reflection, participants will examine how these capacities strengthen attention, motivation, relationships and our ability to respond constructively to complex challenges. Together, we will consider how wellbeing can become part of an organisation’s lived culture, shaping leadership, policies and everyday choices. For IB schools pursuing Wellbeing within their Programme Development Plan, the Summit will offer space to clarify priorities and begin shaping practical, measurable next steps suited to their context that inform, enthuse and inspire approaches to teaching and learning.

Human Connection, Inner Peace, and Global Impact

Day 1: The challenge we face: Human Connection

Day 2: Meeting the challenge: Inner Peace

Day 3: A call to action: Global Impact

Outcomes

By engaging the connected challenges of anxiety, disconnection, loneliness, polarisation and burnout, delegates will develop greater self-awareness and practical skills for leading with presence, compassion, coherence and clarity in a spirit of active hope. Through leadership action groups, connecting with nature, peer coaching and shared reflection, you will identify patterns to release or strengthen, practise listening and working through conflict, anxiety and uncertainty and consider how their everyday choices reflect the values of human flourishing. Leadership Action Groups will bring delegates together across sectors to turn insight into initiative prototypes, identifying who will benefit, how ideas can be tested and what support is needed. Delegates will leave with practical commitments, collaborators and a stronger sense of agency to shape change within their schools, organisations and communities.

Beyond the Summit, individual and team 90-day action plans will provide a framework for translating learning into sustained practice. Each delegate will identify an accountability partner, a first action to take within seven days, and checkpoints at 30, 60 and 90 days. These commitments will connect personal development with shared responsibility, helping participants assess progress, learn from experience and refine their approach.

Through dialogue, immersive experiences, creative pathways and collaborative design, delegates will explore how to:

·       Strengthen attention, self-awareness and alignment between values and action.

·       Build trust, belonging and psychological safety.

·       Respond to uncertainty and conflict with resilience and care.

·       Reconnect with nature and express stewardship through practical action.

·       Design, test and develop initiatives that address shared challenges.

·       Develop a sense of individual and collective active hope and agency in response to the polycrisis.
